Overview

A Climate Factsheet is a simple way to understand potential climate-related hazards to your designs. It shows the potential severity of eight hazards, including flooding, wildfire, extreme heat and windstorm. Using the latest climate modelling projections to assess the severity of each peril against a provided property archetype, the Factsheet will assign a rating from Low to Extreme risk.

This service uses a single point analysis, and is not suitable for large sites where risk, especially flooding and inundation risk, can vary across the site extent.

Use the results to:

  • Identify potential site-specific climate-related physical risks based on different future climate warming scenarios over time.
  • Guide recommendations to your client for additional due diligence related to climate resilience measures.
  • Communicate how climate science projections may impact the long-term performance of your project.
  • Understand how different types of infrastructure project are vulnerable to specific climate-related hazards.
  • Engage clients in conversations about various modelled scenarios, including both best-case and worst-case outcomes, to consider adaptive design strategies that may improve resilience to climate risk.

The Climate Factsheet serves as a valuable resource, enabling you to have a constructive conversation with your clients on decisions regarding investments in resilience and building adaptation.

How it works

  • Step 1

Upon submitting a payment, you will receive an email with a link to a form to submit details on your project.

  • Step 2

Fill in the project’s latitude, longitude and asset type.

  • Step 3

We’ll get to work, conducting climate projections for the provided location, and you’ll receive your factsheet within seven working days.

Important information on using these results

If one or more hazard is flagged as a "Moderate" or higher risk, you should use your professional judgement to decide on next steps. These may include :

  • Further detailed review of potential risks.
  • Consultation with best practice for resilience against climate perils.
  • Adherence to all relevant professional, state, and federal regulations and guidelines concerning risk mitigation.
  • Liaising with contractors, client, and occupants to decide on potential mitigation.

If the modelling shows that all hazards pose a "Low" risk, it is important to note that models are not perfect and do not make infallible predictions. "Low" risk is not the same as "no risk". You should use your professional judgement to decide on next steps, that may include:

  • Comparison of model results with on-site surveys and specific knowledge.
  • Review of model results against past events impacting this and similar sites.
  • Adherence to all relevant professional, state, and federal regulations and guidelines concerning risk mitigation.
